How 5G is going to disrupt the creativity, moderation and real time content creation?
5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It will take much larger role than what previous generations had to offer. Beyond speed improvement, 5G is expected to unleash a massive IoT (Internet of Things) ecosystem where networks can serve communication needs for billions of connected devices, with the right trade-offs between speed, latency, and cost.
Like 4G LTE, 5G is also OFDM-based and will operate based on the same mobile networking principles. However, the new 5G NR (New Radio) air interface will further enhance OFDM (Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing) to deliver a much higher degree of flexibility and scalability. Per IMT-2020 requirements, 5G is expected to deliver peak data rates up to 20 Gbps. (Source — Qualcomm)
Well, how does this affect the marketing industry in creativity, moderation, and real-time content creation?
1. Great speed, massive IOT:
More users will be able to access the internet on a greater number — and variety — of devices at once. Consumers will be able to download everything from movies, games and TV shows to virtual reality experiences from their smartphones as well as other devices, all at speeds that will greatly reduce the loading time.
As users can access content at a rapid-fire pace, marketers will have more opportunities to reach their target audiences.
2. Lower latency:
5G is expected to bring increased speed and in turn, lower latency that will allow us to communicate with the market real time.
Imagine, being able to have a live video chat with your customer with no lag time. Real-time content is something, which could see a growth with the advent of 5G.
Another thought is that, this could mean lesser use of ad-blockers. According to a Hubspot research 36% of people use ad blockers because ads take a lot of time to load making the experience slow.
With 5G, marketers will be able to serve ads to more people, and faster.
3. Ubiquitous media:
Any surface can become an interactive marketing medium, as super-fast wireless connectivity means high-end screens can be located anywhere which also means increased ad inventory.
4. More data, much more personalization:
Ease of connection will lead to generation of great amount of data. This means more data points to understand, analyze and reach the customer. Well, more data means more personalization.
With granular and advanced location-based advertising marketers will get to create personalized ads for engaging with customers at the right place and time.
5. Increase of video based content and interactive ads:
With uninterrupted connectivity, 4K videos and live streaming will become the norm. This means plenty of opportunities for marketers to serve ads in these formats.
A white paper by Cisco visual networking index says that video traffic will account for 82% of the entire web traffic by 2022.
Customers will stream high quality videos than ever before and marketers would have to put diligent efforts in creating mind-blowing videos.
A new wave of opportunities will open up as 5G becomes the norm in the coming months and years. Users will expect high-quality, real-time content married with creativity and relevance. With users bidding adieu to poor quality data and interrupted connections, marketers need to gear up to disrupt the way their businesses function.
